Ongoing Training at Artisan Care Homes : Carrstone House

Posted : 17th January 2025

When we open a brand new care home at Artisan, we ensure that our homes only employ the kindest, warmest individuals, who can provide an exceptional level of care to residents. Part of this process is ensuring that alongside their kind-natured and positive attitude, is that they have consistent and industry-standard training to ensure that in any circumstance, they are prepared and can be on hand if help is needed, or just day-to-day that the level of care is as high as it can be. Our Carrstone House based in Downham Market, which opened to residents late last year, documented the training they have undertaken since opening on their Facebook page. Below, we’ve timestamped the training up until opening day and after.

In September, the management team participated in a comprehensive training session focused on effective people management strategies. By equipping managers with the skills and knowledge to effectively lead and mentor their teams, the overall aim is to ensure that every individual has a positive and fulfilling experience at work, that they feel valued and supported, and that they have opportunities for growth and development. This initiative is a crucial step in enhancing their ability to support and guide staff effectively, directly contributing to a more positive and productive work environment. We’re committed to continuous improvement and providing the best possible environment for our team, and this type of training is just one example of how we are actively working towards that goal.

In October, the team received comprehensive training in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Emergency First Aid at Work. This valuable training equips them with the essential skills and knowledge to respond effectively to a range of medical emergencies in the workplace, including performing CPR, managing choking incidents, and providing initial care for injuries such as burns, cuts, and sprains. This proactive measure ensures that team members are prepared to handle potential medical emergencies, providing a safer and more secure environment for everyone.

On the 23rd of November 2024, Carrstone House was officially open to residents! After having a lovely December celebrating their open day, 5* food rating & Christmas, it was time to start training again.

At the start of January, the team participated in a comprehensive fall prevention workshop. This valuable training covered key areas such as risk assessment, fall prevention strategies, proper lifting and transfer techniques, and post-fall management. By reinforcing these skills and knowledge, we are strengthening our dedication to maintaining the highest safety standards and providing a secure and comfortable environment for all residents.

We look forward to seeing what Carrstone House accomplishes in 2025, of which will be their first full year of running! All of our Artisan Care Homes have a dedication to great care and continuous training.
